Today we got up early and headed to the Chatuchak (weekend) market. A long auto-rickshaw as they are called later and we hit the opening market. Wondering round for an hour in the heat. We settled to have breakfast in a small trades stall, enjoying hot and spicy noodle soup (for breakfast I know) and sarah had pork and rice, we got distracted by the cafes little puppy lying flat out near us, wrapped in a jacket! We headed out to hit the market.

Loads of cheap independent gear, naughty t-shirts, shorts, shoes, pretty much anything you can imagine (except jumpers and jackets) as well as some (but limited) fake goods in over 15,000 stalls. They ranged from the expensive to ridiculously cheap (but only ever after some serious bargaining). This place is immense the atmosphere electric and the heat was intense. We left the UK with some serious kit missing, and the t-shirts we bought in the UK were too thick, which means too hot and a pain in the bum to dry. So for £2 a pop replacing them is a must. We bought some linen shorts, t-shirts, flip-flops and some bit and bobs to send back home. Including my Muay Thai shorts, which took Sarah a good few minutes in-between hyperventilating laughs to explain that I look like I am wearing a nappy! Bargaining hard we managed to get some good prices and at lunch time sat back and enjoyed an ice coffee which is delicious and cool.

The market was like a time warp and minutes moved to hours and before we knew it, aching and weary we headed home to see what our room was going to be like. After india it was with cautious hesitation we pushed open the door to our room (a third the price of the previous night). It was a lot more basic but clean, tidy, air conditioned and all in all pretty good JACKPOT! So we settled downstairs to a foot massage £2 for half an hour, and didn’t our feet hurt after a long day shopping. Slightly concerned about my previous international massage experience I was delighted to be enjoying the painful pressure on my feet (and this time thankfully I wasn’t naked)!
