We awoke at 7 with the Indian boy again commencing his yelling and shouting. Shushing yet again failing miserably and the parents not caring at all. on the train sellers some past with tea, coffee, dinner, sweets, crisps, ice cream, chocolate, fruit, etc… the little boy was bought everything, it’s not wonder he was so petulant. A remarkable insight into a Indian family, who clearly could spend big. They spent more than our entire days budget on sweets and chocolate for him. Thankfully just after lunch a sugar fuel kid (his two sisters who didn’t make a sound) and the parents exited the train phew!
Well how to pass the last 18 hours of the journey, we chatted with the Germans, played cards, read and listened to music. Surviving on our small rations of 3 bags of crisps, 6 micro bananas and 2 packets of crisps. At one point we played paper, scissors, stone for each crisp, making the whole bag last 20mins. Having eaten very little for the last 4 days, I caved into the hunger and had some cold rice and curry for tea (as Sarah still was not keen), leaving the last of the supplies (2 bananas, half packet of biscuits and a bag of crisps) to her.
The Germans got off at 6pm and were alone most of the evening, a highlight being when an Indian commuter, of a nervous disposition and who had clearly not used the train before, joined us and tried to waddle onto the middle bunk. Legs flying everywhere and after bouncing around for a minute or two he finally managed to settle himself in. we couldn’t help but laugh, he looked like a beached whale. Funnily enough he didn’t like it up there and left shortly afterwards.
